Helen Lau

 Helen leads on Knowledge Exchange at Coventry University – the engagement through research that the University has with external organisations and the use of that research to build new business relationships and push forwards innovation.

 Helen has worked in higher education for 14 years focused on bridging together universities and industry to create innovative solutions which benefit all parties involved. Initially focused on health and medical research and development Helen moved to Coventry to focus on the development of technologies and research for independent living. During that time Helen was a Trustee for Age UK Coventry and worked to develop the strategy for Coventry to become an Age Friendly City and for research and technology development to be a key part of Age UK.

 In 2014 Helen moved to lead Knowledge Exchange on a wider basis across the University, the University works with multiple organisations in engineering, creative and health industries and many more focusing on developing ways in which research and development are best used in these partner companies.

 Helen also sits on the Gender Leadership and Development Group for the University, and leads the engagement for Coventry University with UK Government on the development of a national set of metrics to quantify Knowledge Exchange in England.
